Hey Brian…., So the results don’t count for Monday due to Chris being off, But Rich is off, so why not wait til he returns.Doesn’t sound real fair, does it?

  2. Johnny says:

    Roll With THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Johnny…please read the entire posts before commenting.

On the original post I explained that the ad said Chris Bailey was more accurate than that other station. It did not mention a specific meteorologist from WSFA. So the test is to see if Chris Bailey is more accurate than WSFA as a whole.

Oh how I wish I had kept the data I collected last winter ! I live well south of Montgomery, but in a low area. Because of the number of plants I had to haul in and out at night last winter, I was continually interested in the low temperature forecast. I did not keep track of high’s or rainfall. Over about six weeks of keeping records of WSFA and WAKA forecast lows which were made morning, noon and evening (not 10:00 PM) for that night and for the next six nights, I found that WAKA was far more accurate in the prediction of low temps at my house when I used their forecast for Montgomery. This contest will see how close they are to the airport recordings. It shall be interesting, but for next winter, I’ll continue to trust WAKA for the night-time temps at my house.

You did it for a lot longer than I am willing to do it! Of course mine is for entertainment purposes and you had serious financial reasons resting on the accuracy of one over the other. It will be interesting to see how this pans out and if it comes to the same results for this week.

  6. Blue's Clues says:

gee whiz, it’s all in fun. i think this was a great idea.

I don’t know how far “well south of Montgomer” you are, but it seems that relying on a forecast that may NOT have been intended for your low lying area says nothing about the accuracy of the forecast. Be that as it may, I’m glad you found some way to determine when to haul in your plants.

you looked up the results for anniston, not montgomery. if you are going to do this contest atleast verify it correctly.

  12. George says:

I’m about 65 miles south-southwest and I am interested in what is predicted temps for the Montgomery Airport since my experience says that those temps are likely to be very close to what I will see. I think this is a great, fun contest.

  13. Brian Harris says:

You are correct! When I pulled it up I didn’t change the city from Anniston to Montgomery.
