CBS Cancels Another Soap

CBS has canceled “As The World Turns”…the 2nd soap it has canceled in recent history leaving only two soaps for CBS.  ABC still has 3 and NBC is left with only 1.  Check out the story below:

The article makes great points about the changing daytime audience and the diminishing stay at home mom role that supported the day time soaps primarily.  It’s also a cost cutting move and no announcements were made about what will replace the program.  When CBS canceled “Guiding Light” they gave us the terd called “Let’s Make a Deal” in an hour long format…who knows what they will dig up, if anything.

Any ideas what you think might work in the daytime?  Remember it has to be produced cheap and available daily with few to any repeats.

AS THE WORLD TURNS, of all the soaps, made a real effort to stick close to its origins ..

The family setup is the same after 54 years, and some of the same actors are still on the show after being a part of the drama for 50+ years or more ..

This is devastating not only for the fans and actors, but to the New York acting community. This leaves one soap opera left in New York City and they all used to be there. Everyone has left NYC for L.A.

I noticed that WSFA had a message on 12.3 that RTV was being dropped to use the bandwidth for mobile tv service.

Where did you see this information about RTV and WSFA?
