Network Upfronts – NBC
I always find myself glued to my computer for upfronts every year waiting to hear what shows have made the cut, which ones didn’t and what the fall holds for new programming. In case you don’t know what upfronts are…they are when the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) present their fall schedules to advertisers and ad agencies so they can start planning their purchases for Fall.
First up this year is NBC which actually didn’t participate the past few years in this week. They are making a return to being a more standard network so they lead off.
The best synopsis I have read yet was written by the TV Squad’s Bob Sassone – click here to read it.
One of the biggest things was that Heroes and Law and Order were canceled. Heroes wasn’t even able to tie up loose ends but according to the aforementioned blog posting, there is the possibility of a TV movie to wrap up the show. Law and Order ran 20 seasons, tying it with Gunsmoke as the longest running drama. Read more about that here.
Based on the information I have read about the new shows that NBC is adding I will give my guess as to what will happen to it…I’ll break it down to short (less than 6 epi), mid (around 12 epi), long (full season), multi (back around for more seasons in the future).
- ‘The Cape’: LONG
- ‘Chase’: MID
- ‘The Event’: SHORT
- ‘Friends With Benefits’: SHORT
- ‘Harry’s Law’: LONG
- ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’: MULTI
- ‘Love Bites’: MULTI
- ‘Outlaw’: SHORT
- ‘Outsourced’: MULTI
- ‘The Paul Reiser Show’: LONG
- ‘Perfect Couples’: MULTI
- ‘School Pride’: SHORT
- ‘Undercovers’: MULTI
