WCOV Back On Dish Network

feature photo

Fox 20 (WCOV) is back on Dish Network.  The two sides finally reached an agreement.  That was not too long of an absence.  WCOV posted an update on its Facebook page.  I can also confirm that 20-0 is viewable on my Dish Network box with guide data.  Thank you to both sides for brigning Fox pogramming back to our market on Dish.  Now lets get DirecTV with the program.

MTR would like to thank our fans for making your voices heard.  We had over 200 people take each poll about WCOV and Dish and countless comments on the articles.

So that is it…how much did WCOV get from Dish? Also how much did WCOV spend on spots to have NASCAR fans switch from Dish?

  2. grp93 says:

When will WCOV sign a deal with Directv?

  3. Jason Trippe says:

Hopefully this will speed things up with DirecTV. I would think WCOV’s willingness to negotiate with Dish bodes well for DirecTv.

Speaking of Dish, what’s with WSFA’s signal? I’ve noticed slight freezing every now and then. Not horrible and not often, but it’s been going on for awhile. Seems to have gotten a little worse since the hot weather set in. Haven’t seen it on any other station.

  5. Jason Trippe says:

I noticed it on WAKA last night as well. It might just be the weather.

  6. Jim says:

Same thing on DirecTv–WSFA freezes and breaks up occasionally. Seems to be the only local that does this. It must be the station instead of the service because I changed 6 weeks ago to D* from charter (good move on my part) and WSFA did it on charter also.

All I know is that WSFA has never come in on my kitchen set via antenna. I tried moving the antenna around but it’s just like they
are not there on the manual tuning meter.

  8. Jim says:

WSFA is the only station I can not pick up with my backup antennas on my kitchen and bedroom sets, all others come in fine.

Same here. I pretty much forgot they exist since the big digital
move. Looks like it was a move out for them.

I am mad. I got Direct TV and was told that I would have a Fox affiliate out of Rexas when I signed the contract. I didn’t get it. I called Direct and thru told me I had to request a waiver and, if approved by WCOV, I would get a FOX affiliate out if NYC. Guess what? WCOV denied my request for a waiver!!! I am amazed. Do you realize the bad vibe I have for David Woods and WCOV now? I can’t believe he would deny me my right to receive FOX. He us more arrogant than I thought. I guess your demeanor is different when you are not running for Congress.

Quote “I am mad. I got Direct TV and was told that I would have a Fox affiliate out of Rexas …..”

    Is that the Scooby-Doo State?

  12. grp93 says:

WCOV is run by amateurs & a joke of a station. David Woods oughta be ashamed of the way he runs that station. There is no reason they should not be on Directv.

I, too, was told that I would be able to get a FOX channel by the people who took my order for DirecTV. I told them I had a local FOX affiliate (WCOV) and was aware they were not carried by DTV. I was assured I’d get one of the “national” channels from either New York or LA. Of course, on the day that my DTV was installed, the people there said they “meant” that I’d be getting stations like “FX” and “FOX News Channel.” I’d like to see the FCC or FTC do an inquiry and perhaps bring suit against DTV for rampant bait and switch tactics to sign up new subscribers.

  17. John smith says:

I am mad because David Woods will not give me a waiver to get another FOX affiliate through DirectTV. This was requested because WCOV & DTV do not have a contract.

  18. Peacock says:

I believe that David Woods and WCOV should be compensated by cable and satelite providers for their programming. WCOV must pay FOX big money for carrying their programming – it isn’t free. If they approved waivers then there is no incentive for Directv to negotiate. I just switched to Directv and no where in their sales literature or order discussions did they indicate that WCOV Fox would not be available. The brochure says local channels to include FOX… However their is that small asterisk.
